Recently i got opportunity to attend Pune Design Festival and Design with India Conference in NewDelhi. Both events were impressive, while PDF (Pune Design Festival) was orginised first time but organiser worked hard to get it hit.
Delhi Events started with sam pitroda's recorded speech. Sam Pitroda has helped indian telecom revolution. his view were mostly of design for social development and that can be true not for just design but to any other proffession. His call to address challenges india facing, with design need to be elobrated.
Presentation from Indian industry was heart breaking, very few have actually spoken about challenges design proffession facing. idea of collabration that Bunny from IDEO suggested was impressive.
what i feel that we have hyped too much about design and started assuming that we can solve everything. we assume that everyone is doing wrong and its designer, who only can help things to work right. we see design in isolation and thats where we do mistake. unlike other field of knowledge, design get its strength from collabration. design can bring best from technology and match it with exact need to satisfy the aspiration.
and lets accept one thing that till now we havn't done much to talk about.
i will write more later as lots in my mind.
