i got this interesting book "Papillon" by Henri Charrière. i finished 80 pages on first day inself. as u go through pages u can feel the life papi had gone through. its excellent adventrous real story written in french, but i have got its english version.
a Frenchman sentenced to life at Devils island for a murder he did not commit. He recounts his many adventures and escape attempts until he final succeeds and settles in Venezuela. The power of the book lies in the humanity, honesty and sheer spirit of Charriere. Form the kindness of Lepers , the friendliness of the so called fierce Indian tribes, Papillon shows the human warmth these people have given to him. Set back after setback does'nt deter this man of iron will and indomitable spirit. The inhumane suffering of solitary confinement and the injustice of penal settlements are describe in depth. In summary this book is a masterpiece of oral literature, it is passionate, couragious, at times comic, full of excitement and adventure. After reading this book you will come away wondering how a man could have lived through so much.
